Marie
Scott (Volunteer) continued to visit the visually impaired with the
help of volunteer Michael Gray. The home visits proved to be essential,
particularly for the housebound visually impaired who would never
have gained the support and information they needed without Marie
and Michael’s tireless efforts. During visits Marie was able to demonstrate
safety equipment, repair faulty talking clocks and watches, and was
also able to assess which services would be of benefit to each individual,
and refer them accordingly. This would include financial benefits,
British Telecom Services, Talking Newspapers, equipment and care.
FUNDRAISING
In 1998 Moresby Friends of the Society raised money to provide outings
for the visually impaired. Between 1998 and 1999 they also raised
£1,500.00 to purchase a special camera for Mr Zaheen the Ophthalmologist
at West Cumberland Hospital.
