INFORMATION DESK Marie Scott, volunteer, worked very hard to set up an Information Desk at West Cumberland Hospital and applied to the Cumbrian Co-op for funding to purchase specialist equipment for demonstration. A cheque was received for £250 and the equipment was purchased and stored at West Cumberland Hospital. Eventually it was decided to hold the Information Desk at the Low Vision Clinic in West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven, Workington Infirmary and Keswick Cottage Hospital in liaison with Mr Gil Smith, Low Vision Specialist, from Middlesborough. ‘EGREMONT TODAY’ In 1996 the ‘Egremont Today’, a Labour Party monthly magazine, was recorded onto tape by volunteer, Mr Tony Tindall.
